Former President George H.W. Bush was released from the hospital on Friday after a nearly two-week stay for an infection, a spokesman for the former president said.
“President @GeorgeHWBush was discharged from @MethodistHosp after treatment for an infection,” the spokesman, Jim McGrath, tweeted. “His doctors report he is doing well and is happy to return home.”

Shortly after his father’s most recent release from the hospital, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush wrote on Twitter that the former president was “doing well and headed home.”
“Thanks for all of your prayers. Dad is doing well and headed home,” the younger Bush tweeted.

The former president Bush was eager to be released from the hospital, saying even during his stay that he was looking forward to returning to the Bush family’s estate in Kennebunkport, Maine, for the summer.
